FAQ: How do I set up filtering in Mail for Mac OS X?
| 1. Open Mail. 2. Click on "Mail" in the top left corner of the screen next to the blue apple. 3. Select "Preferences...". 4. To configure the Junk Mail filtering, click the "Junk Mail" icon. 5. To enable Junk Mail filtering, check the box next to "Enable Junk Mail filtering". 6. You can set a preference to have the mail marked as junk mail or to have it moved to an actual Junk mailbox. To set up the determination criteria for junk mail, click "Advanced...". 7. Press the "add" or "subtract" circular buttons to add or subtract a condition, then change the conditions to your approval. Click "OK" to apply the changes. 8. Click the "Rules" icon on the far right of the icon bar. 9. Click the "Add Rule" button. In this window you can set criteria for specific rules that result in specific action. 11. When you click the box that says "From", you are presented with a list of different portions of the email to use in your rule. 12. When you click the box that says "Contains", you are presented with a list of different if/then statements (such as "contains", "does not contain"). 13. You then are able to specify whether you would like to move or copy the email to a particular inbox, or simply to have it deleted. 14. Click "OK" to apply the change(s).
