FAQ: How do I move my email messages from WebMail to Mac OS X Mail?
| These instructions are offered as our sole support in the matter of moving your mail from WebMail to Mac OS X Mail.app. The Solution Center will not be able to troubleshoot or answer any specific questions you may have about this proccess. 1. Connect to isua1.iastate.edu via telnet and enter "add public". 2. Enter "cd .WebMail". 3. Enter "ls" to see what folders are available. For our purposes, we will transfer your inbox, so enter "cd inbox". 4. Enter "d2u [0-9]*". 5. Then enter "cat [0-9]* > inbox.mbx". The inbox.mbx file should now be in your inbox folder. 6. Connect to your filespace using Fetch and download the inbox.mbx file to your desktop. 7. Open the Mac OS X Mail application. 8. Click "File" and then "Import Mailboxes...". 9. Click the bubble next to "Standard mbox files". 10. Click the "Forward" button twice. 11. Choose the folder where your inbox.mbx file is located. You will now be given a list of potential .mbx files. Uncheck any of the files that are not your inbox. 12. Click the "Forward" button twice and your mail should be imported into a folder called "Import". | |
