PDAs and Smartphones
IT Services offers faculty and staff Exchange email synchronization support for BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and Palm OS PDAs and smartphones. Cellular telephones and service plans for university business purposes are available through the university's contracted cellular providers.
IT Services recommends that you contact your IT support staff prior to purchasing a PDA or smartphone to ensure it is compatible and meets your needs.

The following PDA support standards also apply:
- Service and repair issues for PDAs must be directed to the issuing
vendor(s) . - Software or data not listed above is the client's responsibility.
- Wireless services and contracts are the client's responsibility. Find out more about ISU's negotiated contracts.
Security
PDAs often contain personal and sensitive data, posing a security risk to both individuals and the university. PDAs also have the added risks of being stolen, misplaced, left unattended, or succeptable to viruses. Wireless PDA traffic is often unencrypted and can be intercepted.
As a result of these risks, IT Services recommends reading and following the PDA Security Guidelines.

BlackBerry
To request BlackBerry service, use the Administrative Systems Access Request form. Select Other as the service and in the comments section please indicate that you are requesting BlackBerry Enterprise Server access.
