Remote Access (PPP)
A remote access PPP account allows you unlimited access to the campus network and Internet from an off-campus location using your computer's modem and a telephone jack.
Establish PPP Service
Establishing PPP service for your account will give you access to the local 56K (V.90) modem pool at 515-268-4565.
Configure Your System
Documentation for configuring PPP software is available for Windows and Macintosh computers.
Charges and Billing
PPP charges ($7.00/month) will be applied to your Accounts Receivable University statement and must be paid monthly. Billing cycles begin at 12:01 a.m. on the 16th of the month and end at 12:00 p.m. (midnight) on the 15th of the following month.
Deactivation
It is not necessary to deactivate your PPP account as you will not be charged if your account is not used (e.g. over summer break). However, you may request that your account be deactivated through AccessPlus.
Faculty/Staff Only
Faculty and staff outside the local Ames calling area can access the PPP modem pool using one of the following methods:

Access the PPP modem pool from outside the local Ames calling area by dialing (866) 251-5488. No calling card required! The rate for this access is $.12 per minute. The $7.00 monthly usage fee applies to this service. - Dialing with a Credit Card
