Placing a Toll-Free Call

Any 3-digit toll-free number will work (e.g., 800, 866, 877, 888).

Placing a Direct Dial International Call

Placing a Calling Card Call Using an AT&T Calling Card

Using a Calling Card from Another Carrier

Placing a Person-to-Person or Collect Call

  2. Listen for operator
  3. Give requested information

Alerting Rings

  1. Single ring: call from an on-campus extension
  2. Double ring: call from off-campus or operator
  3. Triple ring: automatic callback call

Call Progress Tones

Call Waiting

A single tone while you are on the line indicates that you have another incoming call.

Confirmation

Three short tones confirm the command you entered has been performed.

Intercept

Alternating high and low tones indicate a dialing error or denial of the command you entered.

Recall

Three short tones followed by dial tone indicate the command you entered has been performed.

Temporary Data Protection

When using your telephone with a modem for data calls, activate Temporary Data Protection to prevent any interruption for the duration of your data call. To activate:
