VPN passwords to be discontinued; certificate-based authentication continues

On Tuesday, February 1, group password authentication on VPN service will be discontinued. Effective at 8:00 am that day, only the certificate-based authentication will be valid.

You can determine if you are using the group password VPN service by checking the server IP address of your Cisco VPN client. After launching the Cisco VPN client, group password clients will show a server IP address of 129.186.97.221. Also, if the client is using the group password server, the following message appears after login:

Iowa State University
VPN Production Server 2
Your session is now secure to the Iowa State University network.
