Providing more multimedia tools for faculty and university entities will be the focus of a November 21 seminar, "Supporting Podcasting--iTunes U and Classroom Capture Technology" at 2 p.m. in 206 Durham Center. ITS Academic Technologies staff will demonstrate and discuss two new tools for podcasting--iTunes University (iTunes U) and classroom capture technology.

Iowa State University's iTunes U site is a central repository for multimedia and podcasts, whether they are video, audio, or "enhanced podcasts" (audio plus screen capture). Come see how ISU's iTunes U site is structured, and how it can be used by faculty and staff at the university. The iTunes U application contains both a public and password-protected portion of the site, allowing ISU entities to share information broadly, or limit access to a particular course.

We'll also be demonstrating the Echo360 classroom capture software, which allows faculty and instructors to capture classroom lectures or record supplemental class material right from their office. The Echo360 software is a solution that records classes or "learning objects", and then automatically publishes the recordings to iTunes U. Students can then access class materials for review and test preparation. Both iTunes U and the Echo360 software are available for use now.
