ITS's John Rose is Red Hat Certified Engineer of the Year

John Rose, Systems Analyst in the IT Services Systems and Operation area, was the North American winner of the annual Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) of the Year contest. According to the news release, he was "first inspired to become a RHCE at the 2005 Red Hat Summit. Rose has utilized his RHCE skills at Iowa State University working with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Network Proxy and Satellite servers, and Red Hat Directory Server. He is also one of the leading contributors to community Red Hat Enterprise Linux support in #rhel on freenode."

John's participation in the Red Hat community also led him to become a contributor to the Fedora Project. He currently serves as the Central United States Ambassador for Fedora.

The honor recognizes those who demonstrate hard work, expertise, and innovation utilizing RHCE skills to solve complex technical problems and deliver value to their companies and institutions.

The four other individuals recognized as Red Hat Certified Engineers of the Year represent Singapore, Europe, Latin America, and India. All will be honored at a special reception at the 2009 Red Hat Summit at Chicago in September.
