This news item expired October 6, 2010. It may contain out-of-date information.
We have received reports of a number of "phishing" emails circulating on campus. The message in the latest one claims you have exceeded storage limits for email. Others indicate a corrupt database or upgrades or a possible deactivation of your account and ask you to send personal information to the system administrators.

DO NOT RESPOND if you are asked to confirm your email identity with your name, username, or password. If you receive such an email, delete it. If you did respond, immediately change your password.

Iowa State University, IT Services, or the Solution Center will never ask you to send your password or other confidential personal information via email.

If you have questions, contact the Solution Center at or 515-294-4000.
