This news item expired August 15, 2011. It may contain out-of-date information.
ITS is leveraging the power of social networking to engage students at ISU. As part of this continuing effort, ITS partnered with TechCYte during June Orientation in a contest intended to increase our followers on Facebook. The contest, open to all incoming Freshmen who "Liked" either the ITS or TechCYte Facebook pages during June orientation, offered a new iPad for the winner.

Korrie Bysted from Janesville, Wisconsin, who plans to major in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design, was randomly selected as the winner of the contest. She will receive her new iPad when she moves to campus in August.

The number of people following the ITS Facebook page at the beginning of June was 299. At the end of June, our followers numbered over 1200 - an increase of over 900 new followers - or 400%. ITS will engage these followers on our Facebook page by providing timely information related to technology and the learning experience at Iowa State University. ITS is also utilizing Twitter in this effort to engage more of the student population, posting the same information as on our Facebook page.
