In order for students to use the ISU network, all Windows computers must pass the Inspector program, which requires that a current anti-virus program be installed. IT Services recommends you download and install Microsoft Security Essentials, a free anti-virus program available to ISU students, faculty, and staff for use on their personal computers. After your Windows computer meets the minimum standards, you can then register your computer.

Macintosh and Linux users simply need to register their machine, by entering their Net-ID and password and accepting the terms of computer use on campus.

Users with Macintosh systems running OS X are encouraged to download and install Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition.

University-owned machines used by faculty and staff are protected with Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection.
