This news item expired July 26, 2012. It may contain out-of-date information.

Students, faculty and staff at Iowa State will continue to enjoy access to one of the largest repositories of online software training at Lynda.com. Lynda.com offers users the ability to access a multitude of online training and tutorial modules covering a wide variety of software, operating systems, and web-based applications.

Access to Lynda.com was originally piloted at ISU in 2009 and supported by a Computation Advisory Committee (CAC) grant along with additional funding from six colleges, University Extension, ITS and Parks Library.

Iowa State's current site license with Lynda.com is set to expire in July, and initially, it appeared that funds might not be available to renew the license. However, funds from ITS, along with significant contributions from every college on campus, allowed for renewal of the site license for an additional year.

The new site license will bring enhanced functionality that will help ITS track usage of the service. Other new features include monitoring and tracking of viewed courses, making it easier for users to demonstrate the training in professional improvement plans.

For information on accessing Lynda.com, see the ITS Training service page, or simply login to Lynda.com with your Iowa State Net-ID and password.
