Network maintenance May 11-13

This news item expired May 13, 2005. It may contain out-of-date information.
Wednesday, May 11, 5:30-7:00 pm During this time, inter-building and Internet network connectivity will be moved from the primary campus backbone to the redundant campus backbone. The campus will remain on the redundant backbone until the upgrade is complete (anticipated to be early Thursday morning). While the redundant backbone is in use, users may experience slightly decreased inter-building network speed. Internet connectivity speed from campus buildings will remain the same. Internet speed from Department of Residence buildings may vary as some network management services will be unavailable during the maintenance. There is a small possibility of network disruptions during this phase of the maintenance, although none are anticipated. Thursday, May 12, 5:00-7:00 am During this phase, the main campus backbone router will be upgraded and the primary campus backbone will be restored to normal operation. While precautions are taken to avoid network interruptions, the possibility exists for several minute-long interruptions during this period. Friday, May 13, 5:00-7:00 am In the event of unforeseen upgrade problems, this maintenance window will be used to fully restore the campus network to a long-term stable environment.
