The graduate course, "High Performance Computing," Math/ComS/CprE 525 will be offered this Spring 2015.
High Performance Computing (HPC) has become a critical technology for science, engineering, and financial research and development.
This course will teach concepts of high performance computing by teaching students how to develop parallel applications using Message Passing Interface (MPI) and OpenMP. If time permits, the use of accelerators will be discussed.
Concepts will be illustrated using applications such as numerical linear algebra. A written and oral semester project from each student is required. Students are encouraged to apply parallelization techniques learned to their area of research for their semester projects.
This course is a lecture & lab, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in 449 Carver.
Students may sign up for the course either as Math, ComS, or CprE 525. Prerequisites are either permission of the instructor or a knowledge of calculus (Math 265) and linear algebra (Math 207 or 317).
