MATLAB on the "isua" Server to be Discontinued

This news item expired September 1, 2005. It may contain out-of-date information.
The MATLAB version on the "isua" server (a.k.a. Project Vincent) is no longer supported by Mathworks, Inc. and the number of clients using the software through that method has dwindled to a mere handful.

Therefore, Information Technology Services (ITS) is announcing its intention to discontinue MATLAB on the Project Vincent system. The service will be formally discontinued on December 19, 2005.

If you are accessing/using MATLAB from the isua server, you should begin the transition process to use one of the alternative platforms that remain available at Iowa State. MATLAB is available, at a modest cost, for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux platforms.

For those who have licensed MATLAB for use on their own Project Vincent workstation, that license will continue to operate until June 30, 2006. Since the package is unsupported and significantly behind the updates available on supported platforms, anyone running in this mode should also begin planning a migration strategy.

Contact the Solution Center at 515-294-4000 if you have questions, or want to explore MATLAB options available after December 19, 2005.
