ITS Web Development Services is seeking one or more WEB DEVELOPERS. DUTIES: Develop and maintain web services for Information Technology Services and other Iowa State University departments. Work includes programming, database design, testing and evaluating web services, maintaining client content, web server maintenance, and other duties as assigned. IDEAL: Ideal candidates will be underclassmen with at least three semesters remaining and interested in long term student employment. These candidates will have a genuine interest in web development but may have little or no professional experience. The primary areas of proficiency will include:
  • Linux
  • Apache
  • MySQL
  • PHP
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be familiar with standard web principles and concepts; be able to work in a team environment as well as independently; be detail-oriented, creative, and self-motivated; and have strong communication skills and facility with standard American English. Applicants must have web experience through personal interests and projects, a student organization, or professional experience; be comfortable working in a PC-Linux environment; proficient in programming with at least one modern programming language; and be willing and able to learn web development using PHP, MySQL, XML/XSLT, JavaScript, and other standard web tools. COMPENSATION: Part-time, flexible hours, ongoing employment. 15-20 hours per week. Summers may include full-time options. This is a continuous employment opportunity. Base pay rate: $8.39 per hour.
