The Mainframe, Database and Applications teams ensure the integrity of institutional and archival data. These teams oversee the university’s mainframe, maintain more than 250 database environments and provide campuswide support for third-party enterprise systems.

Application Infrastructure & Mainframe Support

The ITS Application Infrastructure and Mainframe Support team oversees the university’s mainframe. The mainframe assists in processing institutional data through systems for student information and accounts receivables. The team is responsible for the mainframe hardware and operating systems as well as mainframe application and software development. In addition, the team sustains the storage and management of institutional documents and reports.

Database Administration

The ITS Database Administration team ensures access to accurate and secure data across more than 250 university database environments. The team maintains databases through backups, restoration and performance monitoring while managing data for the university’s data warehouse. The team is available as a resource for developers, report writers and anyone writing queries for university databases.

Distributed Application Services

The Distributed Application Services team provides campuswide support to the university’s third-party enterprise systems. The team is involved in all stages of third-party systems from assisting in the request for proposal process to implementation and administrative rights. The team also supports the Extension Store, an eCommerce site used by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and other university departments.
