For New Students, Faculty and Staff
What is a Net-ID?
Your Net-ID is your Iowa State University username. It is the group of characters before the "@" sign of your Iowa State email account. If your email address is alexdoe@iastate.edu, then your Net-ID is alexdoe.
You will use your Net-ID to log into Iowa State accounts and web apps, like AccessPlus, Workday, Canvas, Microsoft Office and more.
As you join Iowa State and become a Cyclone, you will need to officially set up your Net-ID. This process is also called registering your Net-ID.
What you'll need
- First Name (May also be called "Given Name").
- Last Name (May also be called "Family Name").
- Date of Birth
- University ID number (this field is called ISU Card Number).
- For students - this number is issued to you by the university during the admissions process. In some cases, there will be a delay between accepting your offer of admission and being able to register for a Net-ID. This delay can be up to a week. We recommend waiting a few days after accepting your offer before attempting to register for a Net-ID.
Instructions
Visit netid.iastate.edu and complete all fields on the page.
NOTE: for students - if you don't have an ISU ID Card, use the nine digit University ID given to you during the admissions process.
- It is recommended that you keep the suggested Net-ID, but you can change it here if that is preferred.
- Set your password. Be sure to record your password in a safe location, like a password app such as Dashlane.
- Click Accept and then click Register.
- The Net-ID registration may take a few minutes to process. If you encounter a system error at this point, please contact the IT Solution Center at 515-294-4000.
