How to download apps like Word, PowerPoint and Excel

All Iowa State students have access to Office 365 (Microsoft 365 apps). You do not have to buy this software separately. The software includes Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams. The software will work on Windows, Mac and mobile devices. Requires an active Net-ID.

The apps can be downloaded to your device or accessed online. The downloadable apps run on your computer (no internet connection necessary), while the web apps run in the cloud and use a web browser. Follow the instructions below to download the apps on your laptop or computer.

Instructions

 

  1.  Log into your Sign On Dashboard.

  2. Click the Office 365 app.

  3. Once logged in, click Install Office in the drop-down menu in the top right corner.

  4. In drop-down menu, select Microsoft 365 Apps.

  5.  After clicking Microsoft 365 apps, an Office Setup file should download, open and run this file and your apps should start installing.
