As a student at ISU, you have the right to access digital content that meets accessibility standards. Digital accessibility ensures all students can fully participate in their learning—no matter how they access content. It’s a core part of ISU’s commitment to a welcoming, student‑centered experience. Students play a role in supporting an accessible learning environment by collaborating with faculty, reporting barriers, using accessible practices in their own coursework, and engaging respectfully with peers who may utilize assistive technology or course accommodations.
Whether you're using online learning platforms, accessing digital resources or navigating campus systems, this toolkit will guide you in making the most of ISU's digital environment
Why It Matters
- Federal Standards: All of ISU's digital content must meet federal digital accessibility standards beginning April 24, 2026.
- Better for Everyone: Accessible content features such as captions, alternative formats and well-structured documents support all students, including those without formal accommodations.
- ISU's Mission: Accessibility aligns with ISU’s mission and helps create a welcoming learning environment for all students.
Your Rights
You deserve respect, support and access to course materials that work with your technology. If you encounter a digital barrier, you have the right to report it so we can improve the experience for everyone.
Your Role
Digital accessibility is a shared responsibility. Any time your content will be posted online, presented, shared or otherwise accessed by other students, faculty or staff, it will be required to adhere to accessibility requirements.
Training
To help you meet these requirements, student-specific digital accessibility training will be made available by Fall 2026.
