An Okta dashboard for 'Santa'

This year, Information Technology Services (ITS) endeavored to help 'good St. Nick' set up his Okta dashboard as a means to efficiently manage his holiday operations.

Okta serves as Iowa State University’s single sign-on solution; when users log in to Okta, a dashboard displays their personalized collection of software applications. Okta first rolled out to campus customers in 2018 as part of the WorkCyte initiative to modernize business processes and technology, and university employees adopted Okta’s multifactor authentication login shortly after.

At the end of July, Iowa State University will migrate its existing online learning resources from Lynda.com to LinkedIn Learning, as part of a necessary transition due to the discontinuation of the former tool.

In preparation for the shutdown, LinkedIn is requiring all Lynda.com subscribers, including Iowa State, to move to the website’s replacement and LinkedIn subsidiary, LinkedIn Learning, this summer.

Box Update Notification Not a Scam, Do Not Dismiss

Some individuals on Iowa State University's campus have received an email from Box, saying they are using an outdated version of the application.

These emails are legitimate; as of Nov. 12, 2018, Box will stop supporting TLS 1.0. Older versions of Box applications, such as Box Drive, Box Tools, Box Edit, Box Sync, etc., will no longer work.

Box tracks which version of the application users employ and is sending out notifications to users still on the older versions, which will not be supported after Nov. 12.
